Default Interior lighting....

Hey guys.

First post.
Woohoo! haha

I used to have Blue LED's on the interior of my previous CLK (208).
See attached. Not a great pic of the lights, unfortunately. But they looked marvelous!

When I got my 63, my 208 was passed to a family member. So I took out the Blue LED's (along with the Eibach springs, Koni shock, induction kit, sprintbooster, wheels, spacers..... LOL - Pretty much stripped it back to standard!) with the intention of installing them into my 63.

The covers over the interior lights (including under-door lights and boot light) look pretty much the same as they were in the 208.

But the cover over the bulbs up near the rear-view mirror is held in place alittle more securely.
I've had a go at removing it, but not had much luck.

I've been putting the job off through fear of breaking a clip or something.

I have recently learned that the whole housing of the switches and bulbs comes off via 2 clips. Somewhere.

Tomorrow, I will be addressing the job again.

I hope to find these 2 clips and replace the bulbs.

LOL you gave the family member THE CAR but couldn't bring yourself to give them the lights huh?

Lovely car. Wonder when the mood lighting will come in handy?

LOL.

Yeah, I had to keep the LED's!! haha
And the shocks, springs, this, that.... LOL

I was properly happy with the way my mods turned out on my 208.
It handled brilliantly too, thanks to the suspension upgrades and widening of the rear track.

The blue lights transformed the car.
Seriously, I can see how they come across as abit "boy racer" but it really did compliment the car.
All surfaces inside the car had a nice blue edge to them.

I didn't drive around with them on or anything, but seeing them at night when the doors are opened was awesome.

Hopefully, later, I will work out how to remove the housing for the overhead lights.

Ok.

So I finally worked out how to remove the lense cover of the light up near the rear-view mirror. There's just one bulb up there.

But.

I couldn't work out how to remove the cover that sits over the rear bulb above the rear seats.

I thought this one would be easy, as it's the same design as the 208.

Does anyone have a tip on how to remove this?

I believe one end of the cover is hinged. So when you remove the free end, it just swings down so you can change the bulb.

This one's stuck fast though.
I can manage to release the un-hinged end by about 3mm, but then it won't free up any more than that. It seems to still be clutching to it's friction clip or something like this.

Thought I'd ask before I approach it alittle more heavy-handedly!

I'm hoping to sort this today.
I can't change one bulb without changing the other.
That would just look .

So the car is still as it was at the mo.

The pesky hinge was on the other side!

Yay!

Looks great.

The familiar blue glow is back!

I'll take some pics later on and post 'em up.

Unfortunately, as with my 208, it's not particularly easy to replicate in a photo what the eyes see (see above post with attached pics).

Took a pic.

As mentioned, it's not easy capturing the blue lighting when the flash to my camera phone dominates.

Due to the black interior, the blue isn't as obvious as it was in the Alpaca Grey interior of my 208.

But there is a nice blue edge to everything non-pourous/ shiney when seen in person.
The aluminium trim peaces also reflect the blue which looks good.

When it's dark, the blue is alot more obvious. (honest! LOL).
