New Engine

Have you seen the specs of the new engine introduced at Geneva?It is as expected,largely,and the figures are impressive.537 hp and 590 lb ft of torque[I love the Nm figures,though,800!],and in a performance pack version[no brainer we all want this one!]563 hp and 664 lb ft !
As it is a twin turbo [similar to the old 55 motor] the torque is really low down,and with so much torque there is a rumour of 4WD which I think would make it perfect,at least offer it as an option for nuts like me who live where I do and still drive my C63.Was out on the ice road yesterday looking at the ice castle which is just built and it was quiet so did some nice slides.
I can't wait to see and try this new motor in a C class!

I think with a little tuning that this powerplant can produce 600+ hp, and over 700 ft/olbs of torque. This powerplant is going to be a monster, BMW should beware. AMG philosophy "One man, One Engine" or "I have the Power"

Have checked this morning and all is revealed about the new engine on the AMG website,go to "engines" and it is M 157 [it's model designation]All the info is there and pics etc,it is superb,not only more power and economy but also cleaner in CO2 by far over the old M156.I just can't wait for it to come to us on this side of the pond,and to see it in a Cclass,just hope they don't detune it,and hope they give 4motion as well,it would be perfect!!

I replied to Saud in another thread that they will gradually replace the M156 6.3 with the new engine as it is 1. more powerful,2.more economical,and 3.cleaner.This is especially true in Europe where the CO2 levels are looked at much more than the 0-60 times!!So yes it will come in time they say AMG 2015 on the website so my guess[only my guess,mind you]is that all the AMG,s will have it by then.
What they did not say is also important and that is the V12 is dead as it does not come up to these new standards.Wonderful though all these engines are progress is progress and we should be glad for the wonderful engineers at AMG who are in the front line of innovation and in my mind make the best engines in the world[and there are a lot of good engines out there].
I only hope it sounds as good as the sound I am about to hear and hear daily,that of my C63 starting up!!
