Differential/Delimitation Speed to 174 MPH
Hey folks,
I'm an old retired United States Army Sergeant Major and this is my first and hopefully correct post to the forum.
I've contacted several dealers and at the moment I'm waiting on a response if a particular C63 is available. Here's my question:
-I'm some what familiar with the AMG performance package, of significant concern to me would be the extra "Firmness" of the ride. The car I'm looking at has the 251 and the 471 packages. All the research I've done has led me to believe the Limited Slip Differential "Without" the suspension portion of the performance package is a winner; any truth?
Lastly, what exactly does the Delimitation of Top Speed to 174 MPH consist of?
Many thanks,
Mike Maggio

Dear Mike:
I'm sure someone else has a more complete answer to your question... but sometimes postings in this forum are slow in coming, so I thought I'd jump in. My limited understanding is that having LSD without the Performance Package (and its stiffer suspension) is only available outside the USA. When ordering my car I would have considered the limited slip if it were a stand alone option.
Enjoy the journey!

Thanks.
I have the invoice in hand and it shows the two options(?) The car is sitting at the port down South and the dealer I'm working with is attempting to snatch it. I should have an update no later than Tuesday.

the package
well, if you get the sport performance package, you cant limit the suspension change they r going to give you everything so really is it worth it for the slip differential?

As a disabled veteran the suspension portion of the Performance Package may stiffen the ride up just a bit too much for these weary bones.
The Limited Slip Differential is offered at $1200, the Delimitation of Top Speed to 174 MPH costs $1250.
I guess it boils down to personal choice.

Sarge, as a Fellow DODer I know how your old bones feel. I have to have back surgery in Dec. My back problems caused me to sell my Beloved Porsche GT3 for my AMG C63. I have to tell you the ride is pretty damn stiff. Almost as stiff as the GT3 in normal mode. So be prepared. On smooth roads the ride is very nice.
As far as the options I have the 471 limited slip and the
251 delimitation.
I think you should grab the car. They are very rare and hard to come by. I lucked into mine they had one come off the truck that no one knew about and I was able to grab it. Good luck and Email me with any other questions you may have paulgt3@gmail.com
I would be glad to help an old sarge out. I have 25 years federal service as a Naval flight test engineer.

I have just had my car for 2 weeks and the LSD is absolutely essential for improved traction and a must for me on the poor roads here in the arctic.I thought the 10% increased spring rate would be intolerable and maybe a mistake but honestly though the ride is certainly firm in is not unpleasant and the stability at high speed [I have hit 240kph on a deserted arctic highway]is terrific.I think the deliniter works by controlling throttle response via the computer.

I live in Yellowknife and the winters are sometimes minus 40 C or even down to minus 50.The only winter tyres I can find that fit the staggered rims on my C63 are Blizzak LM 25.Some Pirelli and Michelin are available for the front but no matching ones for the back.So I intend to order the LM25's.As it is my cars first winter I am interested to see how I get on but intend to drive all winter.I have a heated garage of course, but am more concerned about the low ground clearance and how the Keyless go operates at minus 40 Celsius.Look forward to sharing experiences with you.
Porsche winter tests all its cars here and I have seen several Panameras in Downtown YK and at the nearby large Hotel,so I feel I am the winter tester for my new C63,Can't wait to spin it on the ice road!
