Default E63 and noisy brakes

I have a 2007 E63 and am wondering if anyone out there can tell me if they have had any success in solving the squeeking brake issue. I had read about this issue before purchasing but was told by the dealership that this was a none issue. (Not the case!!!)

I to have an E63, AMG has revised brake pads, your SA can tell you if you have them installed or not. But, brake squeal is a common problem, that you can't eliminate. AMG doesn't recommend brake paste, and has specifically sent a TSB advising not to use it on AMG's. The squeal only occurs at slow speeds, when the brake are lightly applied. Get your brake hot, and the problem goes away. We just have to live with it. There are currently, no brake pad manufacturers that make pads for the 63's.

I have looked around, I can't seem to find any aftermarket manufacturer that make pads for the E63. I know that Brembo does, since their the manufacturer of the caliper. But brake squeal can be eliminated, in the bed in process. I get very little, if not any squeal. But now due to all the salt and snow, I tend to hear it more now. But frequent stop pass the car wash, with a good rinse eliminates the problem period. My issue is the brake dust, even though my car gets washed weekly. And that depends on the weather, maybe twice a week in some cases. I would go see your SA and ask him if you have the new revised pads.

Agreed.
A new set of pads may well do the trick.

Thankfully, I have not suffered with this problem on my 63.... but I did have this problem with my 208.

The problems that we E63 owners face, is the lack of aftermarket pad suppliers. Their is more then enough suppliers for the E55, but none that i have come across that supply the E63. If anyone comes across pads for the E63 besides OEm, please post it. Allot of people have been looking for these pads. The OEM work great, but the downside is brake dust, and everyone hates that.

One of the benefits of owning a Mercedes, is that we get free car washes for as long as you own a Mercedes. So in actuality brake dust shouldn't be an issue. But now that we have all this bad weather, you can't see any brake dust on top of all the dirt. So it's a good thing........ I'm giving my go some show today. First bath since last week, trust me it needs it.

Free car wash?

Sounds great.

Unfortunately, I could never allow someone else to clean my car.

No No, it's at the Mercedes dealership, they have an automated car wash. Isn't it that way in the UK? In the US every MB dealership has a car wash, that anyone that has a MB can have their car washed for free, as long as they own a MB. Samething with road side assistance, run out of gas, flat tire, locked out, dead battery, etc.

Au...au....automated washers????!!!!

NOOoooooo!!

LOL

They are the enemy! haha

No, they don't do courtesy cleaning of your car over here.
As far as I know anyway.

But you're right about the flat tyre, locked out etc...

Whish is pretty handy considering I don't have a spare wheel! (CLK63 doesn't come with one. Not sure about the convertible though).
